Construction Trades Foundation Hosted Student Career Fair
On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, the Construction Trades Foundation hosted their first student career fair in partnership with Donohoe Construction Company at Edison High School. Over 70 students within the Construction Trades program attended and had the opportunity to meet with fourteen local industry employers that specialize in carpentry, electricity, HVAC, masonry, plumbing, engineering, or architecture. The students participated in on-the-spot interviews with the employers to discuss their skills and applicable positions or internships.
Students enrolled in the Construction Trades program follow a nationally recognized, industry based curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) sponsored by American Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC). Students in the program also become OSHA-10 certified while enrolled in the program. Many of the students are also enrolled in the introductory construction classes at Montgomery College to get an early start on their college career in construction management.
